There are now a number of Rapidplay events being played throughout Devon and the DCCA has decided introduce new competitions to recognise players' performances across multiple events. This takes the form of a "Grand Prix" where player's scores across a number of events are accumulated and the highest scoring players at the end of the season win trophies as appropriate.
Specific rules are as follows:
- There will be three categories: Open, Rated and Junior.
- The Open category is open to all players regardless of rating
- The Rated category will be restricted to players either without a rapid rating, or with a rapid rating below 1750. Additionally a standard rating below 1750 in the present season's September rating list will be required. Players without a standard rating will be ineligible for the Rated competition. A "P" rating (ie. provisional) will not be accepted as meeting any of these criteria.
- The Junior category will be restricted to players under 18 on 31st August of the previous season, ie turning 18 during the present season.
- The winner in each category will be the player with the highest total of their three best scores from participating events. Only scores gained in the Open category of any event shall be counted for the purposes of the Grand Prix.
- In the event of a tie the title will be shared.
- A player may win only one category. A player winning the Open title will be ineligible for the Junior and Rated titles. A player winning the Junior title will be ineligible for the Rated title.
- In the event of any disputes the executive committee of the DCCA reserves the right to decide on the allocation of titles, and its decision will be final.
