Teignmouth Chess Club has been in existence for over 120 years, and has survived two world wars. Teignmouth Chess Club meets on a Tuesday at 7.00 pm. The season runs from the first Tuesday in September, breaks for Christmas and starts again the first Tuesday in January, the season finishes the last Tuesday in May, opens again first Tuesday in September. Limited Parking is available on site on a first come first served basis and on adjacent roads, or there is free parking available after 6pm, at the very close by, Teign Street Car Park at the end of Chapel Street, (click, Parking Link above for map and detailed instructions)

The club caters for 'Over The Board Standard Play only'. We are not set up for Quick Play/Speed chess, or chess tuition/coaching. 

We welcome chess players of all standards and skill levels to Teignmouth Chess Club, from all of the surrounding areas such as Dawlish, Babbacombe, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, and beyond, so if you are a chess player wanting the opportunity to play others, or a beginner with experience in playing standard over the board chess, that wants to progress and participate in club chess, in a friendly and enjoyable environment, please contact us. 

Teignmouth Chess Club does not have a specific junior section, however juniors with experience on how to play chess, are welcome to join the club and to participate in all our competitions and league matches.

Teignmouth Chess Club activities Include internal competitions, Championship, Challenger's, Knock Out, and Handicap. Teignmouth Chess Club also participates in the local Torbay Chess League in Devon, in which we have two teams, and we also take part in the Devon County Chess Association leagues

Teignmouth Chess Club membership fee is £35.00 per person for the season, paid pro rata, there is a board fee for the evening, off £3.00 per member if you get a game. Tea coffee and biscuits are provided free of charge and is available throughout the evening.

Newcomers are welcome to attend three sessions without board fees, they will then have to make a decision as to whether to become a member of Teignmouth Chess Club, after which membership fees (Pro Rata) and board fees as above will start to apply.
