We are happy to report that a new chess group had started meeting at a small cafe next to Paignton Harbour. This is a friendly, relaxed weekly meet-up for anyone who enjoys a game of chess (or wants to learn).

The penultimate event in the 2025-26 series of inter-club team competitions was held on Sunday 17th May 2026 at the spacious venue of Clyst St Mary Village Hall, just outside Exeter. Four teams of six took part: Exeter, Newton Abbot, Barnstaple and Teignmouth. Originally Totnes had announced an intention to enter but were unable to raise a team.

Sedgemoor Chess Club is excited to be hosting Sasha Matlak who will be giving a talk on reducing blunders and sharpening tactical awareness. The event will take place at St George's Parish Centre, Wembdon (TA6 7RP) between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on 27th April 2026.
