Welcome to the new DCCA website. It was my great privilege to take on the role of DCCA webmaster from Tim Paulden who did great work in modernising the site. This initial website retains the original content of Tim's site and has some added features that hopefully you will find of value.
- a DCCA calendar so you can see all the upcoming chess events
- a sitewide search facility
- links to social media like YouTube
- feature games and videos
- details of all team events and online entry form
The site is of course still evolving and it would be great to have your feedback on the site and any ideas you have for improving it so you can get more value out of it. You can send me feedback at
Please also remember to change any web bookmarks as the site's location has changed from devonchess.com to devonchess.org. The old link will work and redirect you to the new site for some time but it will eventually be switched off.

Seaton hosted the DCCA Team Newman Rapidplay in Axmouth on Sunday 14th December 2025.
There were six team entries in all, so the competition was arranged as a 5-round all-play-play. Seaton and Barnstaple provided 2 teams each with Newton Abbot and Sidmouth completing the set.
Barnstaple A continued its great track record in the event by winning with maximum points 10/10, followed by Seaton A (2nd on 8/10) and Newton Abbot, 3rd on 6/10.

The final cross-table is below:

Plymouth Chess Club celebrated its 9th Rapidplay event with a fine turnout of 40 entrants with a notable junior contingent with some as young as 9! The large field meant that play was conducted over two floors of the Bridge Club.
The event was closely fought with the top five tables going into the last round with a chance of a prize. In the end, a Neil Crickmore and Giles Body emerged as joint winners on 5/6. Paul Hampton and Martin Goldschmidt shared joint 3rd. Given then field size there were many grading prizes too numerous to mention!

Thanks for Tony and his colleagues for arranging and running a great event once again and for the hard working woman serving the drinks and lunches!

Final results can be found here.
