Team Events

The DCCA runs a number of team events throughout the season. These are one-day events open to all Devon clubs with most having a grade-restricted component to ensure the most competitive environment.

The events for this year are as follows. All are standard play unless specified:

Sedgemoor Chess Club is excited to be hosting Sasha Matlak who will be giving a talk on reducing blunders and sharpening tactical awareness. The event will take place at St George's Parish Centre, Wembdon (TA6 7RP) between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on 27th April 2026.

Entries open for the next DCCA one-day event (Mamhead Trophy)

Details
The next DCCA one-day event, for the Mamhead trophy, will be hosted by Newton Abbott Chess Club on Saturday 18th April. The event is scheduled to start at 10.30am and should finish around 5.30pm (note the revised time 30 minutes earlier than previously announced).

Newton Abbot win DCCA Schofield Team Event

Details
The 2026 Team event for the Schofield Cup took place on Sun 16th March 2026 at Alverdiscott Village Hall in Bideford. Peter Worthington reports on the day's event.
 

Devon Teams Triumph over Somerset in County Match

Details
A hall full of people ready to start playing chess
1st and 2nd Teams ready for play!

Devon 1st and 2nd teams were in action today against Somerset meeting at the Hatch Beauchamp Village Hall with 16 boards in action for the 1st team and 12 boards for the 2nd. Jon Underwood, DCCA Match Captain reports on the day's events.
